Latest training event with Ministry of Educational Transformation in Barbados

Earlier in the year, I was honoured to be invited to work with Janelle Little, Education Officer, Nursery and Primary Section at the Ministry of Educational Transformation in Barbados, and her exceptional team of colleagues, to further the island’s commitment to delivering excellence in the teaching of phonics across all schools and for the benefit of all children in the first few years of schooling.

The project began as a test pilot with Macmillan Education, then proceeded to a roll-out in 2024. This final cohort in 2025 completes the roll-out. It was well-attended and the teachers created a rich and engaging environment in which they discussed, shared and questioned how this new way of working with a new programme could be adopted for the good of all despite some huge challenges.

I was truly grateful for this opportunity to continue my collaboration with Barbados, its educational leaders and its teachers and children.

Thank you.
