New Title Launches for the Cambridge Phonics and Handwriting Programme

I am delighted to post about the launch of several new titles I have written within the wider Cambridge Phonics and Handwriting programme which is aligned to the Cambridge Early Years and Cambridge Primary curricula.

The programme offers a structured, systematic approach to teaching phonics and handwriting and supports both first and second language English learners from age 3. With fun, practical activities and clear guidance, these resources build children's confidence step by step through their literacy journey. Aligning with the ‘UK’s Number One Handwriting Programme’, Penpals for Handwriting, together these two programmes make an unbeatable package to ensure essential foundation skills are taught, embedded and fully developed.

The Step 1 Learner’s Book provides playful mark-making activities to phonological awareness exercises and engages young learners through hands-on activities that build the foundation for phonics and handwriting. Featuring three 10-week units with interactive exercises and stickers, this resource can be used in the classroom or at home with clear support for practitioners and parents/carers.

The associated Teaching Resource with Digital Access supports educators with a structured and clear approach to teaching phonics and handwriting through interactive rhymes, songs and engaging lesson ideas.

The Step 3A Learner’s Book supports young learners as they take the next step in their journey towards reading and writing including learning how to blend adjacent consonants and explore letter names, alphabetical order, and letter formation.

The Step 3B Learner’s Book continues to support young learners towards reading and writing where children practice recognising and applying vowel digraphs, build on their blending and segmenting skills and begin to join letters.

The Step 3C Learner’s Book enables children to practice recognising and applying vowel digraphs, explore simple verb endings and continue developing their handwriting through joining techniques.

Finally, the three Learner’s Book titles are supported by a Teaching Resource book with Digital Access and giving clear guidance to support the explicit teaching of phonics and handwriting skills.

Step 1 Teaching Resource book and Learner’s Book is now available to buy online. Pre-orders for Step 3 Teaching Resource and Learner’s Books are available online with planned availability from August 2026.
